Seven years ago the United States attacked Iraq without provocation, without necessity, based on a campaign of propaganda and lies. At the time I wrote this Cinquain:
Slaughter --
Slaughter Iraq.
Destroy the whole country.
This is what all our leaders mean
By "peace".

I marked this anniversary in my Yahoo! calendar so that I can be reminded of this shameful date and inspired to act upon every impulse I have to bring peace into my world.
I think it will be a very long time before the U.S. comes to some kind of understanding of the depth of the crime committed in its attack on Iraq. Such introspection is difficult; it's difficult for individuals and more difficult for society as a whole.
